The “Røtter” installation, made by Giovanni Ricci and Michele Abolaffio, won the fifth place of the Aracne Competition organized by Lanificio 159 in Rome. This work represents an ancient Drakkar, made entirely of chinese “Chopsticks”. Inside the ship it is hidden a loudspeaker connected to a music player that reproduces a 7 minutes audio track in loop. The composed track is a natural soundscape, composed by the sounds of ocean waves, wind, creaking of wood, and a heavily reverberated gregorian choir chant. This chant is an element that recalls the strong christianization of Norway during the kingdom of Olaf I, first king of Norway.
